At different points in the semester, students will work in pairs to complete and submit poster presentations focused on one particular issue concerning child labour — students are encouraged to select a key issue or debate and focus on a specific location or group of children.

The presentations should include posters (made in PowerPoint and saved as PDF, for example) that feature titles, text, and images that 1) summarize the issue, debate, and/or context; 2) analyze the particular issue in relation to course concepts; and 3) asks two “next questions.”Remember to keep your text short and concise.

I suggest keeping your word count to around 1200 words in total. You’re welcome to use images, but please include proper references for all images and text. A reference list for all cited material should be placed in both right-hand corner of the poster. Finally, please submit your poster as a PDF and be sure that the resolution is good enough to read the text clearly when zoomed in.

The poster should be accompanied by a five-minute audio clip in WAV or MP3 format that highlights the key points of your issue and poster. I suggest introducing yourselves and the title of presentation. You may then want to introduce your poster by describing its components very briefly. From there, you may want to select a few of the key points you’re focusing on, one or two points you are further analyzing or thinking about, and the “next questions” you developed. Try to avoid summarizing or reading your poster — instead, find another interesting way to convey your issue and points orally. You may want to end your audio clip with one lasting thought you can draw from your analysis — this last bit is your moment to shine!
